BHP Seismic
UNIX
BHP_SU
consists of two main areas:
1)
SU tools to
create and read randomly-accessible SU data in different formats, e.g. seismic,
horizons, models
2)
SU tools to
extend BHP’s Quantitative Interpretation capability.
BHP_SU is an
extension of Seismic UNIX, and all the same rules apply for building BHP_SU
commands and scripts as for SU.
Special file formats and
random-access make it possible to rapidly examine large volumes of data. The
speed at which data can be viewed is virtually independent of file size, unlike
most other processing or interpretation products.
Seismic UNIX trace headers
are used to store “decision-variables”, which can then be used to view data in
non-standard ways.
